Unexpected endings

Friday was probably one of the last nights at our local since the nights are getting distinctly chillier. It's a little fenced-off park with a pond in the middle, with gravel all round, and cane furniture with plump red pillows. It's one of the few places in which I feel a part of the neighbourhood; I recognise people from my building as well as other residents of the 13th district. Since it's a residential area, it closes at ten, and then we shuffle off to another watering hole, or in the case of Friday night, to our flat, where an impromptu house party took place with the requisite spilled drinks, noise warnings from the concierge and adolescent antics of men.

After an almost day-long stupor of reading and naps, I forced myself out of bed to a tea workshop given by a tea ambassador, which was mildly interesting. We left halfway for margaritas and nachos nearby and then went on a pub crawl that took us from Most, a new-ish place which has a rare roof garden but charges patrons 100 forints to use the loo (this really pisses me off, no pun intended) to Sandokan, where I bumped into one of the guys who runs our local, though I only realised that this morning in my half-conscious hungover state, to the Four Seasons where we spent a small fortune on cocktails. Was it worth it? Well, they were serious cocktails drunk to live music and mint-sized pogacsas. And Jesus, if the Four Seasons doesn't tack on a 10% service charge, no one should. As it was, we left more than 10%.

On the way home I got a sense that these two guys behind me were stalling for an approach; I hadn't quite expected a tentative grope on the ass (yes, there are shorts under this dress you punks). I stopped and as they walked on I yelled obscenities at them. They seemed a bit embarrassed as they sloped off, and I felt relieved that there were now people between us on the walk home.

Why do some men feel that can cop a feel? What in their upbringing makes this an acceptable way to treat a woman?
